On Saturday, August 1, several EAWA members and friends made their way to the Augusta Civic Center for the annual state ARRL convention.
Tracey AC1UN, Barbara KC1SSY, Matt KC1VLH and his wife Sue, and Joan W1DLC are waiting for the final prize drawings of the day. Also attending were Mark W1ABY, Steve W1DTX, Steve KD1O, Phil N1EP, Stan W1BOY, and Marion W1GRL.
Along with EAWA members, attendees included many familiar faces from area clubs and regional events. In addition to the vendor area, there were programs and ‘meet & greet’ sessions. Some EAWA members attended an ARES session while others attended the ARRL Forum conducted by Tom K1KI, the New England Division Director.
In the top left corner, Joan W1DLC is chatting with another YL. Joan represented the Women Radio Operators of Maine with a table, gathering area, and many printed resources. She was able to connect with old friends and new women hams, including one who had just passed her exam about 20 minutes before arriving at Joan’s table! Following the photos in the collage, in the top right is Sue and Matt KC1VLH who were doing some shopping. Along the bottom, Barbara KC1SSY and Marion W1GRL were caught goofing off, while Mark W1ABY and Stan W1BOY were also shopping.
It seems that EAWA members and friends have a good time wherever we go! It was beautiful day for a drive and the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning. Perhaps next year we’ll see you there?! Written by Marion W1GRL
