Winter Field Day 2024
Several EAWA members shared photos of their set-up for Winter Field Day. Chris, K1WJY, and Stan, K3PW, were participating from home stations, while Joan, W1DLC, operated in the field.

Working under the special callsign N1S, Jeff, KA1DBE, and Matt, W1MRH, participated from Matt’s camp on Georges Lake. As you can see from the score, they did well!

Sharing, Helping, and Chatting at Weekend Sessions
The first two Weekend Sessions of 2024, held on January 6 and 21, proved to be a good time to get share knowledge and get assistance. Projects included setting up Linux, packet radio, and programming handhelds.

Club Meeting, January 2024
Members of the EAWA met January 11, both in person and via Zoom. In addition to routine business, the club elected officers and board members for 2024. One topic of discussion was participation in Winter Field Day. Several members are excited about working Winter Field Day from remote locations. Other topics included an upcoming club dinner, planning for the April 2024 Symposium, the availability of flyers to be given to new hams at licensing exam locations, and the upcoming Clipperton Island Activation.

For the program, Marion Mason, N3OA, presented an introduction to radio awards, contesting, and special events. Aimed at someone new to ham radio, her talk included ways to find these activities and the basics of how they work. She also discussed how the growing fascination with radiosport has prompted contest overlays and contests-within-contests, adding to the fun.
